CST 300 - Week 4

 Part 1: Educational Goals My primary educational goal in the CS program is to graduate with my Bachelor's in Computer Science in December 2025 with experience in the field from internships and our service learning class. Another goal I have by the end of the program is to create projects that will showcase my experience and skill set and have them on display on my GitHub. Part 1 - Study Strategy Websites   This week, we were given a link to a list of websites that had time management skills and study strategies. In last week's post, I wrote about how I had a hard time gathering my ideas and materials for the essay, so I viewed "Tips for writing researcher papers" under the section titled "Writing Essay Tips". My summary below will be helpful when developing our next paper which is an ethics essay.       In this article, it mentioned the four areas of writing a paper that one should focus on. The first area is getting started. To start, develop a thesis statement.  They recommend keeping it simple and specific as it will help keep your essay focused. Give yourself time to look for sources about your specific thesis statement.  It is important to give yourself time to write the paper, the bare minimum being a week, and being organized with the time you have. CST 300 - Week 2

 Part 1: Learning Strategy When it comes to effective study skills, the top three things that I do well are setting a schedule, taking notes while reading in a notebook, and setting a space for studying. I keep a Google Sheet to help set a schedule for the tasks I want to complete each day. I take notes in a notebook while reading or watching lecture videos to make sure I grasp the topic of the material. I also have the luxury of having an office space that I work in so that I am not distracted by others. The three areas I need to work on are reading aloud to myself, gathering materials before I write, and keeping a quiet study space. I tend to read aloud to myself when I do not understand something I am reading. It does take longer to read, but it is beneficial for me to understand the topic. I also tend to overthink the sources and materials that I need to write an essay. I get in my head a lot and it takes me longer to start. When we wrote the outline of the essay, I had trouble dec

CST 300 - Week 1

 This is our first official week of the CS Online Program. Before the program began, we were introduced to our team and were tasked to create a Team Name and Collective Resume. Our team had our first meeting and came up with the resume below:  From this week's reading and assignments, I learned about the History of CSUMB as well as the Vision Statement and the logistics of the School of Computing and Design. In addition, it is important to note that Strategies for Online Learning Success. These strategies are as follows:  Read the Syllabus Plan your study time Actively Participate Collaborate in a respectful manner The follow-up assignment on the Open Learning Initiative gave me an opportunity to decide how I would function in a team. Module 1 provided a video of a team meeting that was not organized well. The video itself was hard to watch.
